Admittedly, I am newish to InDesign- but I am fairly well-versed in Illustrator. I am trying to re-create an element I successfully created in Illustrator in an InDesign project.
First, I have a photograph that has been placed on the document.
Next, I create a solid colored rectangle.
Then, using the eyedropper tool I pick a color from the photograph to color the rectangle.
Last, I would like to be able to reduce the opacity of the rectangle (keep the same color as picked, but bring it down a few shades with the intention of overlaying a text box)
What is happening is that both the photograph and the rectangle darken in color. It doesn't even appear to be reducing in opacity. Am I missing something?
I have tried placing the rectangle in another layer, as well as toggling off many of the eyedropper options.
Any and all help is welcome!!!
Or- is there an alternative method to what I am trying to achieve?
