usb root hub

computer does not recognize any usb devices. in device manager under usb serial devicss, usb root hub has error sign, under status, device not working, NTKERN.VXD device loader for this device could not load the device driver. code 2. anyone have any suggestions.

Try removing the following two lines of code in the C:\Autoexec.bat file using Notepad.
SET windir=C:\WINDOWS
SET winbootdir=C:\WINDOWS
After you make this change, save the Autoexec.bat file, and then restart your
computer.

those two lines of code dont exist in my autoexec.bat file

In device manager, double click on the usb root hub,click on driver tab,driver file detail. What driver(s) does it show if any?

two branches; windows\system32\drivers\usbhub.sys
and ntkern.vxd

Have you installed software for the usb device that you want to connect?

yes software for both devices. a palm pilot and scanner are both installed.
