USB Question

Hi, My cousin's computer has 2 usb ports, her mouse is usb and so is her scanner. For some reason she can't use her mouse and scanner together... when she tries her scanner stops responding. So to get around this she uses a ps2 adapter for her mouse. Anyone have some ideas of what would cause this and why? Thanks.

windows 98, 256mb ram, 800 or 900mhz amd athlon...

if this is first edition 98 you may want to get additional usb drivers at via.com.tw to support the chipset better..
anywayz using the ps/2 adapter may be more solid than thru the usb port.. if you can miss the irq12 being assigned to a ps/2 mouse you might as well leave it at that..
try to enable "assign irq for usb" in bios if it is disabled, and set usb keyboard support to disabled while this only goes for dos use and is unneeded..

This is a known issue..specifically with AMD stuff.
Check the usb devices in control manager, and go to the page below for the fix for this problem.

Try it out and let me know?
I always like to know how ppl get on.
If she is running SE (Second Edition) then this pertains to her.

I assumed her o/s was se but I found out last night when I sent her the link that she just has first edition... everything but the o/s version pertains to her problem...

Any other ideas?
