USB Problem..Doesn't react

Hello I'm new to the forums, I recently discovered this great place through a co-worker. Well I have a simplistic question.

A short time ago I purchased a Dell Inspirion Notebook 5100. I just recently found out that one of my USB ports doesn't work. I'm not too much of a hardware type of guy so I don't know too much about it.

Did I get a bum USB port?
Is there anyway to fix it?

My notebook has two USB ports, one of them works while I get nothing from the other port.

Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

If it is still under warranty, contact Dell and get them to fix it. That is what warranties exist for.
