I have a compaq evo D500 Deskpro and I am using an integral 1GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive.
THe problem is that when I plug in the USB Key it recoginses it and appears as f:\.
I have put a load of information on it and when you first plug it in you can see this data. When I try and copy the data fails with an error saying wrong parameter.
I have upgraded to the most recent Rompaq.

There goes my suggestion, as to the rompaq.

How about reformatting that usb drive? I guess you dont want to lose your data. Just for the future, i never put on a usb thumb drive any original data that i dont have a copy of, just for the reason you are here for.

Also you can check the usb drive mfgr websites for their FAQ and other support areas as well.

Maybe try re-installing the driver. You can do that by deleting the driver in dev mgr and rebooting and reinstalling it.

Good advice + great people = tek-tips

does the flash drive work as expected on another computer?

What O/S do you have installed on the workstation?

thanks for the thoughts.

On the driver front there is no driver for the device as it is just plugged in and comes up as a removable disk.

Yes the USB Key works fine anywhere else so it is defo not the key

Plug the flash drive in before starting up the computer and see what happens.
