I have an external harddrive that has suddenly started asking for "ide-usb2.0 Bridge" driver

Does anyone know where i can get it?

This rings a bell from a month or two ago ... I think it was a problem with a particular type of controller chipset within the ext. box.

What brand and model is the external drive?

I believes it is on a USB 1.x port.

In XP you can identify whether your PC has Hi-Speed or not relatively easy. Open Device Manager and expand the Universal Serial Bus section. There should be an "Enhanced" USB host controller present.

Yep, it used to work on the machine in question and I found it has the same error on 2 other machines.

Somehow in the space of 20 seconds between a machine switchover it has died i think.

Does it have a Cypress chipset, I wonder? thread751-1172683
