USB camera access 2

Hi all
My MD has bought a new digital camera and HAS TO HAVE a small app to copy all of his stored images transferred via cable into a folder on his HDD.
My 'old' VB app coped with his original camera because XP gave the camera a drive letter, this new camera shows in explorer but without a drive letter.
Has anyone any ideas as to how to recognise that the camera has been attached and then how to access it please ?

Try contacting the camera vendor to see if they have a developer's SDK.

Hi chiph
Have tried the Canon website but their SDK v7 no longer supports VB. I've looked round some of the web sites but can't find SDK v6 and Canon won't let me have one. Not nice, not funny. Thanks anyway for the reminder about the SDK.

I don't know if you have solved the problem, but Canon does make a program which is bundled with some of their cameras which will allow a camera tethered to download directly to the computer. It is called "Remote Capture"
