The .trn file for our SQL Server 7.0 database grew to over 17Gb using up all the HD space and locked up the server. The .trn file was deleted and now we cannot access the database at all. We do not have a backup of the .trn and the last full backup of the database was on 3/4/01 (further backups failed due to lack of HD space). Is there any way to recover from this before my boss returns from holiday on Friday???

Any idea what the file was used for? As far as I know .trn is not a standardly used extension in SQL Server. Was it your database logfile?
The logfile is per default .ldf. Check whether there is a .ldf file for your database.

Hi There

.trn is used for the default for Transaction Log Backups in Database Maintainence Planner.

1. As Vandoort said ... check if there is a .ldf file
for the database.
2. Do you have a backup of the SQL Files in an NT Backup?

Hope This Helps
Bernadette
