We have just upgraded our computer to an AMD athlon 2600+ processor and a Gigabyte Technology K7 triton motherboard, these are on the windows xp pro operating system... but NONE of the USB devices work, i need to run my business from the computer and i cant get on the net or use my printers or anything like that, so plz, i am using a friends computer so quick replies would be helpful... drivers etc, help on configuring the hardware

Thanks in advance

Alex

Is this applied:

This update addresses the "Availability of the Windows XP SP1 USB 1.1 and 2.0 Update" issue in Windows XP and is discussed in Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) Article 822603. Download now to install the Windows XP SP1 USB 1.1 and 2.0 update. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.

To install this update, you must be logged on as an administrator and running "*** Windows XP SP1 ***"

Also, did you install the motherboard (chipset) drivers? If Windows does not communicate properly with the chipset it will then not see the other components properly either.

yeah, i have installed all the chipset drivers etc

Thanks

Alex

ps any other suggestions?

Just to make sure..
You say you installed the chipset drivers.
That is not enough . There should be USB 2.0 driver set included on your motherboard cd also .
Is this installed...?
Ports will not work without it.

Another consideration for USB is power requirements. Have you tried using one device at a time to see if they work individually? what does the Device Manager say about your USB ports?
