Our netware server has crashed

I have typed Down and hit y to reboot but it has frozen

I may need to hit the reset button - will this cause raid problems or anything

Thanks B

Chances are probably not, but you never know. There have been many occasions where I have had to hit the power button and I have only encountered one problem as a result and that was a serious DS corruption that I was luckily able to recover from.

You can try the "vulcan death grip" which will bring the server to the Hex Debug screen where you can exit to the DOS prompt. This can be done by pressing the following keys together (you'll see why I have named it when you try it):

Left Shift
Right Shift
Left Alt
Escape

You will be presented with a Hex Debug screen. Type Q to quit to DOS. This is probably better than powering off but you still run the usual risks.

Thanks for the help, but i powered off just before u sent me this mail.

I ran DSRepair which solved a few errors caused and all is well.

I will try the vulcan death grip next time :->

Thanks again

never heard it called that

it's about the same as shutting it off anyway - if you are going into here you are suppose to do all the weird boffin stuff

there is a tid on it - if you have an honours degree in rocket science or you are bored
