URGENT Event 3932 not a vild domain or workgroup name 1

We are doing an IP migration. As part of this a person who shall remain nameless decided to "help" by cleaning up entries in the WINS database. As a result some of my workstation now fail to start the workstation service with event 3932: "DOMAIN is not a valid domain or workgroup name."

None of the workstations had a static WINS entry.

The machines can see the PDC and the BDC. Wins manager shows the entries for the workstations.

I was able to remove the workstations from the domain and re-add them to the domain, but the problem persists.

Problem solved. The person "helping" me decided to make a static entry for the domain name in WINS. Since the WINS server resides on the PDC it seemed to take exception to that and as a rsult any station that had been rebooted since the change went in could not start its workstation service. Sheesh....
