URGENT! Disk I/O error (Continued)

It does not get as far ad installing anything. It lists all the PCI devices and then the error message appears. If I try booting from the hard drive I get the message "NTLDR is missing. Press any key to restart" I press any key and only get the same message. If I try to boot from a floppy I get the "Disk I/O error etc.

I need to get to the A: prompt I know but I just don't know how. It seems I have trashed my hard drive but can that be done just by deleting files even if they are system files?

Dude, you deleted NT loader, that's what load the OS, of course it's busted!!

This goes to show the benefits of knowing what you're doing before you start pressing delete!

Find someone with a Windows machine and make a boot disk.

If the partitions are NTFS rather than FAT, you probably won't be able to read them with a plain old dos disk. Seems like I remember some sort of ntfs.sys file that you could put on the floppy and in the config sys file, but I'm not sure.

There's also the possibility that you have a bad floppy disk or drive, so try a different disk.

Thanks but have figured it out. Have created an Emergency Recovery Disk from Win98 CD and got it to see a valid MBR
