UPS problem???

I’ve got 2 Pcs. One is a Celeron 433 with a 300 watts power supply and a 15 inch screen and the other one a Pentium 4 with a 400 watts power supply and a 17 inch screen. Each is linked to a 600 VA Prolink UPS. At a certain moment, when both PCs were on, the power supply went off. The Celeron did not switch off. But the Pentium 4 switched off and turned back on immediately. Why did this happen? And also, when it switched on, I got a sort of flicker on the screen which disappeared only when I restarted the machine. Why? Is the UPS not sufficient for the Pentium 4?

Howdy:

In most cases, VA = to Watts.. However, that is dependant on the load.. Normally, if you take 70% of the VA rating, that will give you the maximum watts allowed to run under the UPS.. In your case this would be 420 watts..

Either which way, your UPS is severly under powered for both systems to be able to use it !!

It seems something is not clear. Both PCs are powered by their independent UPS. This means one UPS for the Pentium 4 and one separate for the Celeron.

Your P4 power supply lost power long enough for the power good line to drop momentarily.
If it continues, your solution will be one of the continuous conversion UPS models. Much more expensive, but they really do work for machines that have to stay up.
Standard UPS models have a transfer delay time before they put out power from the battery.
