Hi,

I have to install an APC UPS onto an NT4 PDC. any tips, which com port etc what control panel settings.

thanks in advance.

For your info i hooked it up and selected a com port2 started the service and all was fine. I then thought was the port right disconnected it and the server shutdown. Doh! Unfortunately until I unchecked the tick box in the upds applet it proceeded to shutdown every 5 mins or so. Eventually i disconnecte totally. Obviously help is required.

You should be able to use any COM port that is free.

Did the UPS come with any software? I'd install that, as they usually have a lot better functionality than the built-in Windows UPS Service. [auto] MCSE NT4/W2K

What UPS do you have?

APC makes several series with different interfaces and different cabling requirements.
They are not necessarily standard serial cables, even though they look like it.

APC UPS should include one serial cable, and one cd which include "APC Power Chute 5.xx" Jacky
