Hello,

Does anyone have any procdures for upgrading the Nokia IPSO from R55 to R60 on a IP530 please ?

Thanks,

J

Well, what are we talking about ? IPSO, the OS, or the wrapper(that is the application of Checkpoint that runs on top of it) ? What version of IPSO are you running ? 3.4, 3.7, 3.9 ? Find out. Do you have a support from Checkpoint ? If so log in and download the tgz file for PSO. Do you know how to make the IP530 an FTP server ? If you do, get the tgz file and move it into the /var/admin directory. Let me know if you follow me so far.

Hey FWHATER,

Yeap got you so far. Curently running 3.7.1 IPSO.

Yes I do have Nokia usercenter access. If I upgrade to 4.1 IPSO do I need the boot image ?

Currently have NGX R60 management server but would like to upgrade to R62 but I dont think 4.1 supports R62 ? Cant seem to find the R62 checkpoint wrapper ?

Also do I need to upgrade the license from NGX R60 to R62 ?

I guess the management server running NGX R60 will not support R62 running on the Nokia , may have to upgrade management server first ?

Is it hard to upgrade the management server ? do you have any info on how to do these as well please ?

Confuzed...

Hold your horses. You want to do this slowly, one thing at a time. I was refering to Checkpoint user access. To get the wrapper for R62 on IPSO, you have to get it from Checkpoint. They do have a comprehensive wrapper for 1GB Ram disk based appliances. I've always used the boot image when upgrading IPSO.

So, your enforcement point is running on an IP530, what about the management server ? Can I assume it's a Nokia box as well ? I don't think a management server upgrade is that hard. Before doing anything, you'll definitely want to back up your management server first. Again, can you ftp from the enforcement point ? Do you know how to decompress tgz files ? Get familiar linux commands like tar, mv, cp, ./ or you could be in for quite a headache.

The Chechpoint management server is a windows server running NGX R60. The Nokia enforcement module is an IP530 running 3.7.1 IPSO with checkpoint NGX R55 on it.

I would like to upgrade to NGX R62 but not sure if I should go to this version or go to R61 instead.

Looks like Checkpoint R62 is only supported on IPSO 4.2.

Checkpoint R60 and R61 is only supported on IPSO 3.9 and 4.1
