We just got a TN799DP to replace our TN799C. What is the proper procedure for this? My boss thought that we just needed to busy out the old board, pop it out, pop in the new one and release it. I tried that twice and the system says "no board" with the DP installed. It doesn't even recognize it. The old board is back in and working fine.

Any thoughts?

If you do a list config board xxxx you will probably see that port 17 is still assigned. You are going to have to unassign it, remove the old card, add the new card and then re-assign it.

Might be easier to add the new board into a new slot and then re-assign the ip-interface and then remove the old card.

You're right, port 17 is assigned. Forgive me for being a total noob, but what is the command to unassign it and then reassign it after I put in the new card?

Thanks!

You will have to remove all associated programming.
busy the link, disable the ip-interface, remove the data
module on port 17 of the board. This could also involve signaling-groups if you have h323 ip trunks using the clan.
ip-service can have CDR, SAT, AES related programming.

display comm link
busy link x
change ip-interface xxxx
change ip-services (disable, enter, change again and remove)
list signal-group
remove signal-group x
remove data xxxx
remove ip-interface xxxx
unplug the board
list config board xxxx
plug in the new board
list config board xxxx
add ip-interface xxxx
add data xxxx
change ip-services
add signal-group x

Luckily, our CLAN card isn't doing anything yet but providing IP access for ASA. We were trying to setup some other IP stuff and it wasn't working. We think that's because the medpro is on an old software rev, but we don't seem to be able to upgrade it because the presence of a TN799C is holding us back. We want to upgrade to a TN799DP and then later upgrade the medpro.

So, there really isn't much programming to remove at the moment, which is a good thing!

I think this has all become a moot point for the moment. My boss was concerned that I got a "no board" message with the new board inserted in the same slot as the old card, so we tried putting it into a new slot. The cabinet didn't even recognize the fact that we had inserted a board.

I suspect we have a bad board at the moment, so we'll get back to this in a few days with a new board.

Thanks!
