Hi can anyone tell me if as an owner of 5.0.6 am i entitled to upgrade to 5.0.7, or do i have to purchase this? I'm just checking things out with the prospect of an upgrade of our SCO Unix server imminent and if i can upgrade to 5.0.7 then i might as well get it!

Thanks
James.

You should check with your SCO retailer to see if the "Upgrade to 5.0.7" is still available. You definitely would need to purchase the upgrade, as it's not free, and your existing installation codes for 5.0.6 will not work in 5.0.7.

I believe the 5.0.7 version can still use some of the other licenses you have in 5.0.6 (such as additional user licenses).

Well if i need to pay for it anyway, would i be as well moving directly to Openserver 6?

I'll check out prices...

OpenServer 6 is quite a different animal, but it is SCO's future.
An upgrade from 5.0.6 to 5.0.7 is likely less painful than an upgrade from 5.0.6 to 6.0.0. But, if you plan to stick with SCO for the forseable future, you will need to embrace the new environment eventually.

Just for the record, there is no "upgrade" process to move an existing system from 5.0.x to 6.0.0. You will have to load 6.0.0 fresh, re-install your applications, and restore DATA. You can still migrate the user accounts and passwords if you wish.
Because 6.0.0 is running a different environment, make sure your application is compatible. I've found a few instances where we needed to upgrade an application as well.

Cool, thanks for your input - it's given me a better understanding of the situation anyway!
