Hi All,

Is there anyway to create a new AD domain in mixed mode that uses a current NT4 domain for the BDCs?

We have a current NT domain with a Windows 2000 member server. I would like to run DCPROMO on the member server to make it the first AD server but would like the current NT4 domain to be in the same domain and work as BDCs. Is this possible?

The 2000 server in question currently holds TSCALs for the NT4 domain, will this cause any issues with the upgrade?

Thanks

You shouldn't have a problem. If you want to have a mixed DC (2000 and NT4), you'll have to setup a script that runs on the 2000 DC that copies it's sysvol contents to the netlogon share on the NT4 side...something like this:
xcopy \\domain\sysvol\domain\scripts \\NT4-DC\c$\winnt\system32\repl\export\scripts /s /D /Y
This way the contents will be replicated to all DC's.
