Hey folks, I upgraded my DELL 5150 which has a DELL True Mobile dual band wireless NIC (802.11.g) from XP home to XP Pro. Prior to upgrading, the wireless nic worked fine with no problems. Now it indicates wireless network unavailable and when I view properties in Network Connections, "wireless tab" I can't make any changes since its all "grayed" out..searched both DELL and MS sites but could not find any solution...has anyone else had this problem and found a fix? Sounds simple, but I sure can't find it...thanks.

what drivers are you using? the ones from Dell or did Windows install it during the installation?

you might try reinstalling the drivers even if it says everything is working right.

Does the wireless NIC show to be enalbed in your device manager? It may be disabled there is why you can't make changes to it. You may have already done this, but it might not hurt to reinstall the driver. I know because of the security features of XP sometimes the wireless equipment is a little harder to get going.

You might also make sure your PC has the latest service pack for XP and all the critical updates installed.

Hope this helps.

Thank You guys...I reloaded the drivers and disabled the MS network wizard to do the setup and its working fine now...
