I upgraded xp home to xp pro (ok - but it's done now).

Can't access any dial up connections.
When I try to add a connection only offers always on broadband - dial up ... are greyed

Think it might be due to Remote Access Connection Manager - when I try to start it it says access is denied.

In event log on startup

The point to point protocol module C:\windows\system32\rastls.dll returned an error while initialising. The request is not supported.

The control protocol EAP in the Point to Point Protocol C:\windows\system32\rasppp.dll returned an error while initialising. The request is not supported.

Remote Access Connection manager failed to start because the point to point protocol failed to initialise. The request is not supported.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.

Again a fast reply from windows xp.
Had a feeling sp1 would be the suggestion - unfortunately everyone installs via windows update now and I don't have a broadband connection (on hols).

Am trying the registry rasman edit........

And lo everything works.
had to delete the 25/26 keys the rasman account was OK.

Thanks - enables me to drink tnight rather than re-installing.

Hmm - Rock2447 didn't follow up the other thread so I've rectified the situation with another star.

Just after fixing I managed to download sp1 so everythings fairly up to date.
I've got the idw1 for sp2 but don't want to install it on this system at the moment as it's a lot more restrictive and don't want surprises while I'm on holiday.

Reason for upgrading was to use virtual PC but that seems to give problems accessing shared directories so I've given up and installed a couple of win2003 partitions for testing.
