We are opening a Law office in London next month. We are going to use a Frame relay to connect our London office with our US office. We recently upgraded our switch to R11 and install a TN799DP Clan card and a Medpro card.

My question is will we have to upgrade the backplane pins on the PBX to get the Clan card to a 10/100? Right now the Clan card is operating at 10. Our PBX is the G3R.

You should be able to do a 'change ethernet-options' to define the LAN speed of the C-LAN board. You can set it as 10mb, 100mb, or auto. This only applies to the TN799DP board. You can check the speed by doing a 'get ethernet <board>'.

The TN799 should have come with a CAT5 kit to replace the wiring harness that comes out from the backplane and terminates with the 25 pair female amphenol. You can try it without and it will probably work. HOWEVER, we have seen several problems without it. Especially when connecting to a Cisco switch. The connection has a tendency to bounce which is murder on IP phones. James Middleton
