Hi all, I tried to upgrade a SOE 2.0 to 3.2.99 and then to 4.2.20.
It did upgrade to 3.2.99 great, however when I tried to upgrade to the 4.2.20, it locked up the ethernet ports.

How can I get the ethernet ports back?

You need to be running 4.2.20 Manager select upgrade then right click in the upgrade window and change the working directory to/make sure it is the Manager folder, select the unit then upgrade :)

Everytime I download IPO software 3.2.69 or 4.1.15 and unzip it, I keep getting corrupted unzip.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I have had it recently, the Avaya site seems to drop the download early but the zip file appears complete even though it isn't and so it never works, you need to persevere :)

Wow I finally got to upgrade from 3.2.99 to 4.1.15.
The sun, moon and stars had to be lined up. lol
Just to download, I used a clean Laptop and new harddrive,
connected directly to the internet.

Does anyone think I'll be able to upgrade to 4.2.23?

Yes you can but you need to go true the 3.2.999 again.
Be aware that the SOE needs an offline upgrade which is basicly the same as with DTE.
You need a valid bootp entry and do notihng else!
If you interupt the tftp upload to the SOE you will brick it again :)

No need to worry, it just takes a bit longer.

You mean everytime you upgrade you have to upload the 3.2.99
before the admin and maintenace software.

I went from 4.1.15 right to 4.2.29 and didn't have any problems, other than trying to download the 4.2.29 from the avaya web site.

The 3.2.999 is on the admin cd on every software version.
You need to use 3.2.99 to fre eup memory because it does not have enough to go to the main version.

But do I have to use the 3.2.99 evrey single time I do an upgrade or do I just use it once.

I guess what I am asking is, If I upgrade from 4.2.20 to 4.2.29, Do I need to upgrade using 3.2.99 also?

No you just need to do it once.

what the interim versions are doing is allocate more memory space in the system for the firmware, you will see that the firmware (the bin files) are getting bigger with newer releases, that is why you can't go to R5.0 any more with the SOE because there is not enough memory in the system to hold it and being able to function with a configuration file in it.
Before you start a new upgrade retrieve a configuration to ensure that you have a valid boot entry (it does that on it's own when you retrieve a config) then go and set your working directory to the folder in the manager directory that says 3.2.999 and do the upgrade.
After it has the interim version change the working directory again to the Manager directory and upgrade again. Like tlpeter mentioned it will do an offline upgrade so it will restart and come up without a function but will load the bin files
