Upgrade SOE 2.0

Hi all, I tried to upgrade a SOE 2.0 to 3.2.99 and then to 4.2.20.
It did upgrade to 3.2.99 great, however when I tried to upgrade to the 4.2.20, it locked up the ethernet ports.

How can I get the ethernet ports back?

SOE's can struggle with 4.2, you may need to DTE it then leave it on 4.1 ideally

Here is what I am getting on the DTE port
AT-X,AT-X2 and AT-X3 just give me error.
However all the ethernet ports are just lit up

I run 4.2 on my home SOE
the upgrade instructions say that you need to load 3.2.999 before going to 4.2 but it only mentions that from 2.1 on not from 2.0 so it might need another step inbetween.
Try to go to 4.1 like Andy mentioned and then go 4.2

seems you are running without the firmware on it
"loader message" except if you hit ESC before you did this file
create a bootp with the default IP address; the correct MAC address and then reboot it and see it load the correct firmware.

you have bootp entries in the manager
if you see the received bootp request then it should also show you the mac address of the system. But if you retrieved a config from the system before it got fried then you already have one with the original IP address but the correct MAC address, change the IP address to the default 192.168.42.1 and change the bin file to the correct release of ip401ng.bin in the manager folder.
What happens is that the system requests that bin file via bootp but the MAC address AND IP address need to be correct as well as the file i points to.

In the bottom right corner the mac address is 00e007016640 and IP address is 192.168.42.10

I have the bootp set with that mac and the IP at 192.168.42.1

you need to match the IP address so change it in the bootp to xx.xx.xx.10, ensure that you have the file pointed to the correct bin file, browse to it rather then take it that the file name is correct and pointing to the correct one.
Best to actually browse to the one in the 3.2.999 folder so you can be sure that it will take the interim release and from there the upgrade to 4.2 will be quick (it will be an offline upgrade and reboot twice to take it)

I can send the BOOTP from 4.2 and then when it reboots,
it gets stuck and all ethernet ports just stay lit.

Ok reload 2.0 software on the PC. The IPO loaded the bootp and rebooted it and the same thing all over again.
It just gets stuck and all ethernet ports stay lit.

after it takes that file you can load the 4.2 firmware

Yeah It doesn't seem to matter weather I use the bootp from 2.0 or 3.2.99. Right after it loads it, all the ethernet ports lockup.

I have seen the LAN ports just break, it happens on 406's too and often it's something like an upgrade or even a reboot that's the catalyst. Hopefully that's not the case here but it sounds like it
