One of the first things I did when I was hired at my job 18 months ago or so, I upgraded our IP Office 500 system, which gave us the benefit of Visual Voice.

So our current install is

IP Office 500 4.2 (17) & IP Office Manager 6.2 (17)
2 External Modules DS30 V2

Long story short, we opened up an office in Quebec and a Local provider did the install there.

I need to manager this remote office, so when I tried to connect to it via IP Office manager i see the following.

IP 500 V2 6.0(8)

So I called the provider in Quebec and he said he has IP Office Manger 8.0 installed, and he said I should contact a local provider at my location to get help.

So my question is, it possible to upgrade my current system to match the level of software for what we have in Quebec?

Or do I simply need to install IP Office Manger 8.0 on my local machine?

Right now the IP Office Manger is installed on a dedicated PC which does the VoiceMail pro etc.

>contact a local provider at my location to get help.

This is good advice...

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

You can simply use 6.0.8 Manager to manage both systems, but personally I would upgrade the Quebec site to 6.0.14 or they may run into an issue that effects v2's on 6.0.8 where the SD card goes read only and system goes default (at random). You can also uprage your own system to 6.0.14 but there is a licence required for this :)

I think it better to contact a good BP, it will cost a bit in the begin. But it will help a lot in the end.

We sell manager courses after any install, so the customer can do most things them selves and know what/where/when to change things.

We blew the budget in installing the system in Quebec and it wont be till next year, before I can request to assistance of a local provider.

I just want to be able to manage the Quebec Office. Right now my hands are tied behind my back.

If you don't have mayor problems, wait a few months..:)

Don't know what the Mayor has got to do with it, but if you want to go up to V6 it's easy enough to do yourself if you have the correct bin files and the upgrade license to get to V6 is only about £100 odd.If the sites are linked across an SCN then they ideally shouldn't be more than 1 major release of software apart.

Are there made a lot of calls to that office ?
Then tell your boss that a connection to that site will do some cost savings because those calls then will be free.
You only need a data connection to that site, a VCM card and networking licenses in both systems.
It will cost some but save more.
Most of the times it is earned back within a couple of months.
I even seen where it was earned back within the same month!

@tlpeter

my budget was very limited, my company either lacks experience in what it take to open a small office or it was a quick decision to open one. My total budget was $10,000 and they wanted the works. So after I had a good laugh, I gave them a dose of reality. I got a quote for Phone system, sever, rack, backup system, ups etc.. I would have needed at least $30,000 to get everything I wanted.

In the end I spent $12,000 and got my a Phone system with 5 1603 sets, UPS, Server Cabinet, Switch, Firewall.

I did get a VCM card and the system is ready for site to site connectivity, but that's going to dependent on getting the budget.

I asked for MPLS but I got DSL with VPN Tunnel.

Sometimes you just have to work with what you got.

Hi AX64

You can download the latest manager app from this link

You can use this to program both systems without upgrading them.

you can upgrade the Quebec site to 6.0.14 without any cost using the latest manager app from the download link

as for your site you will need a license to upgrade to V6 which is about £65 under 32 ports or £130 for over 32 ports RRP

So those systems are connected ?
You can reach the ipo.
When both systems have a VCM card and those networking licenses then it easy to setup.
Upgrade your system to 5.0.22
then it is only one version lower and SCN is then supported.

@tlpeter: So I can upgrade from 4.2 to 5.0.22 without running into any licensing issues?

Yes you can.
6.0 is the first release that needs an upgrade license.
