We just upgraded our PBX to 7.0 and added new sig. servers too. We have test phones, I2004P2, on the sig servers and they register just fine. However, we are NOT able to place calls to other phones(except to other voip phones on the same SS) or recieve. We must have missed something during the cutover. We have upgraded two other sites to the same release and have not encountered this problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

NRS issue ... we just upgraded to 7.5 and had digital and analog unable to call but VoIP was not an issue.

You need some VGMC cards to talk from IP to TDM phones

You don't need NRS to talk from TDM to IP. The VGMC cards convert IP to TDM and vice versa. The VGMC cards can be VGMC, MC 32, MC 32S or on a 1000e they would be 32, 96 or 128 port daughter boards on the MGC cards.

I found the issue. Both VGMC Cards were disabled. Not sure why as we had them up and running the morning of the cutover. Still have not come back up. If i try and do another loadware update to these cards will that interrupt service? I have one Voip test set and the rest are TDM phones.

If you upgraded the PBX and not the VGMC cards then that is your problem. The software is on the sig server and can be transmitted to the cards. They aren't working now so it wont affect anything on the PBX.

We upgraded to the new loadware during the upgrade but for some reason both VGMC's say they are disabled. I just tried reloading the loadware but so far no luck.

are you dsp's on your mgc cards up? if they aren't you will not get that speech path aw swell also make sure you have the latest loadware on them as there was some issues with some of the old loadware and dsp not going active after reboots

You may need to retransmit the node information

I did the transfer, sync, and restart applications but with no luck. I guess maybe I need to replace a card and see if that is my problem.

If you upgraded to 7.X, then the media cards will need to join the security domain in order to communicate with the sig server properly. Once joined to the security domain, you can push the node info, and they should come right on.

The VGMC Cards are in the UCM Security Domain. I was told by a tech that the proper way to install loadware to the VGMC was to clear the old FW out before installing the new. I havent tried that yet but plan to this afternoon.

Ok, Here is what you do.

1. get to the command line on the card. You may have to log in locally to the serial port on front, or if you can IP to the card that will work as well.

2. do a REG UCM SYS on the card to add it to the domain
3. disable the card
4. do a firmware upload to the card. You can do up to 4 at a time and it only takes about 8 minutes per upload.
5. Once the upload is done, enable the VGMC card.

These are the steps we had to complete. You would only have to clear the load information on the VGMC if you changed your IP address scheme as the cards would be trying to boot to the wrong IP addresses.

Hope this helps....oh and yes this is all service interrupting, but it doesn't take long.
