we had a customer on a 406 still running 3.2(54)

we finally got them to OK the upgrade to something maintainable...
anyway we were attempting to upgrade them, however the upgrade password had been changed,
dumb question, on a 3.2 system where do you change this password?

we fiannaly figured out the password, upgraded to 4.2 then 5.0 ..

however now the system is at 5.0 and I am still not sure what password would affect the upgrade password ( default is password)

I know how to get in the Security Settings, just unsure what password it is on a 5.0 system...)

Im sure I am missing something...

thank
Dave

ok I misssed that
good call ( more acuratly it is under unsecured Interfaces)

on 3.2 where was this? on the system tab somewhere?

I think the security settings section was introduced at 3.2, before that it was in the system tab :)

If you want to reset those security settings and you do not have the password then do this:

Get a serial cable (male -> female 9 pins)
Connect with 38400,8,n,1

Type

AT-SECURITYRESETALL

Then it will ask for the mac address which is shown on the screen.
After that you will get an OK

If you get an ERROR then reboot the ipo and try again.

Do not start with AT or it will give ERROR again.

@tlpeter:

You wrote "do not start with the AT or it will give error again"

AH HA! I spent 30 minutes on Sunday trying to get past that error (and only did so, apparently by mistake)

Just the answer I was looking for - thanks!

Nice one isn't it :)
I have had it myself and i couldn't find it in the docs.
Then i gave the unit a reboot and it worked.
Then i tried it again to see why and i noticed that you should not use AT to begin with.
