We upgrade our server to Windows server 2003 Enterprise edition and before we did that we put in 8 gig of ram. The hardware is a Dell 6650 quad processors. The problem is Bios sees all 8 gig but even when I added /PAE to the boot.ini file, Windows still only sees 3.25 gb of ram. Any Ideas?

Hold on! This could Hurt! I ain't certified by Microsoft!

Thanks

How many Gb of "Total physical memory" you see when start "System Information" utility from Accessories->System Tools? If 8Gb, than this is not a mistake but a MS Feature ;=)
I have like situation with my Proliant DL380/5Gb/W2K3 ES

Try editing your boot.ini to start windows with one of these switches.

/3gb or /pae

We had the same problem on the same kit....

1. Unless you have an application that supports the AWE extentions, like SQL, you won't be able to use the RAM above 4GB. Exchange does not support AWE extensions, check with the vendor for other applications.

2. Do not use both the /3GB switch and the /PAE switch. Use one or the other depending on the application. Using both will ensure a resource shortage and lots of bluscreen/reboot issues.

3. If you use the /3GB switch, make sure you also set an appropriate value for the /userva switch.

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows Server 2003, Standard" /fastdetect /3GB

That's what I add at the end of my boot.ini
Me too , And didn<t get any chance. Nothing change!!
I have a windows server 2003 standard edition
P4 3ghz and 4 gb of ram.
In my bios I see 4 gb but in windows I see 3 GB.
