Upgrade of mobo & CPU in XP

Hi guys/gals!
I'm about to upgrade my mobo & CPU from
-Columbia GX mobo, 2.4 P4 100MHz FSB
to
-Giga-byte GA-8IK1100, 2.8 P4 800MHz FSB (200x4)

XP is my OS. Hardware staying the same is:
NPY GeforceMMX440se AGP
SB Audigy2
120Gb Western digital Drive
80Gb other drive
DVD/CDRW combo (Hitiatchi)
CDRW (Acer)

Question is, is there anything I should watch out for when doing the change-over? I've sorted out the XP registry changes required (but I can always re-register anyway).
I intend to take it slow & steady, but are there any things that a first-time "enthusiast" is likely to come across?
I'm hoping that having all the drivers etc, being already on the OS & drive (registry) will give a (relatively) trouble free startup. (wishful thinking, I know!)
Any pointers gratefully received!

The new mobo will have different drivers than your old one no doubt. Windows XP has a really extensive driver database and it shouldnt be a problem changing Motherboards like you are. That's the easy way to do it, but not necessarily perfect. All of your old drivers from the other mobo will still be stored in your registry and, it's my experience, that after some time, for some reason, problems sometimes arise from this.

If I was making this upgrade, I would backup all of my information on another drive, reformat my main drive, and completely reinstall XP and all of my drivers. This would just make sure it is perfect like I perfer, but that takes some time. I think it's worth it.....

If I get the basics (drives, OS, video) up and running, then I can fine tune it all. What I want to avoid is a main failure of XP, which can be avoided with the registry change of XP (basically expanding the registry). XP gets antsy if you change any major hardware (thinks it's being ripped off and loaded onto another PC), which is why I intend to do the upgrade as a "live" upgrade rather than a fresh built system. I have ample room on my 120gig drive, the 80gig is the one with XP on it.
Although having said that, would the "fresh built" option have as much trouble as I expect (XP gettin' upset)?

Upgraded in accordance with the above link. Worked like a charm! Booted first time, re-registered XP.
It's been running fine all weekend, I'll put it under pressure for the next week. I might even do a FAQ, I'm that happy!
