upgrade ip phone 16xx on R5

Hi there
can anybody tell me what's the best config to allow ip phones 16xx to upgrade on an IP500 V1 5.0.20, i tried 2 or 3 scenarios but none works, the phones are on the same network as the IPO they read the files 46xxsettings and the others but they end up doing nothing..
i have vmpro on a server running my manager.

Make sure Manager is running and the IPO is pointing at the right machine.

open TFTP log and confirm that the phones are getting the files you think they are.

they are getting the files, i can see it on the tftp log but they end up doing nothing !! of course the manager is always open.
on the system tab on the IPO i tired the ip address of the server running manager as a tftp server ip address and the ip address of the LAN1 of the IPO on the http server ip address, and phone file server type is on Manager.
is this ok as a config?
on the phone i put the ip address of the IPO on file server.

Is there a CF card in the IPO?
If it's for embedded voicemail the don't touch it, other wise put the phone files on there and let the IPO do the HTTP, the 1600 don't use TFTP so staring at the log won't do anything.

You can also use IIS or MV_Iptel

no there is no CF card on the IPO
no embedded too, i have a vm pro server.
so my config is good ?

Install MV-Iptel, edit the ini file set the HTTP / TFTP path in there to C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Manager
Point the HTTP/TFTP in the AVaya Manager to the IP address of the VMPro reboot the extensions/IPO and they should start to upgrade.

the file server on the phone would it be the ip address of the vmpro or the ipo ?

still not working for me
the phone is reading the files but not able to start the upgrade!
should i close the manager if i use the MV-IPtel ?
on the file server on the phone i did put the ip address of the IPO.

make sure manager is not running first...it will take over tftp (OR you could just disable tftp in manager). Also make sure your firewall is allowing any ports it needs (80/69, etc)

It sounds like you have the 1600i phones.
Do they have a white or a green display?
When white then upgrade to 5.0.26 and they will start working.
When green then you really have an issue running a http server.
You need to stop manager and restart the mviptel services.

no it was a 1616 phone with green display.

those ip address are LAN1 and WAN IPO's.
the phone has an ip address on the same range as LAN1, and the firewall is off on my vmpro server.

You are using Manager as http server.
Is there a file with .http on the server?
It cannot find the file.
Try a real http server if you can.

yes the file .http is there.
i just restarted my IIS service, i think my http service was stopped on the server.
just to be sure what do you think should i put on tftp and http server on the system tab on the Manager ?
should i leave the phone file server type on Manager ?

When your PC is the file manager then it must be set to custom and with the ip address of your pc.
