Upgrade from SLES7 to SLES8

I need to upgrade a server from SLES7,(SuSE), to SLES8 because of an installation of Oracle AS Forms and Reports Services.
The system is already running an 9.0.2 Oracle database.
Now i have heard that an upgrade from SLES7 to SLES8 is not possible?!
SLES8 runs the United Linux 1.0 kernel and that is what
Oracle supports for AS Forms and Reports Services.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
