Here is what I have:

Meridian 25.47 software with PII processor. All equipment housed in the NT4N41AA Core/Net Shelf. You know the one with the Security Device on the back and the LCD display across the top.

What I am supposed to move to is the PIV processor with the new System Utility card (the one with the LCD display) and the flash drive (RMD).

What happens:

The PIV processor will not boot from the RMD.

What I have done:

Tried to boot from the software provided by Nortel and it fails.

Tried to make the blank 512mb flash provided by Nortel, bootable, but this fails as well.

Downloaded the software from Nortel's website and tried to format the RMD and make a bootable flash but that failed as well.

I have tried with two seperate PIV processors and get the same results on both cards.

What the NTP states:

Minimum requirment for the Card Cage is NT4N40AA and the one that is installed is an NT4N41AA.

Question one:

Will this card cage work with the new System Utility card? I am wondering because of the wiring for the LCD display. The display on the Sys Util card never displays anything, but the one that is hard wired to the shelf will. I do now know if this is a compatibility situation.

Question two:

Has anyone upgraded from the PII to the PIV processor and had any of these issues?

Any help would be appreciated.

John

A number of the early Pentium 4 Processors had a faulty external RMD Drive. Also there is a problem with Memory cards. Nortel have issued a news flash.

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

Yeah I saw this, but ours was mfg week 5106 and the faulty chips were fixed by week 3206.

I was hoping this was the problem, but we are still investigating.

thanks
