guys, i need help, i have 2000 pro on my laptop, when i put the cd in, i can start the installaion and i choose the upgrade, and it does everything fine, then when it asks me to restart, i have the cd in, but when i start the installation, it says it cannot find the cd, although the cd is in the cd drive, i have tried several copies as well, and its for sure not my cd rom drive, any solutions?

can you boot from the cd? If you can't boot from the CD then your laptop isn't recognizing your cd-rom on bootup. If you can boot from the CD then see if the reboot has reassigned your drive letter to something else.

see, i can boot up other stuff using my cd rom, also, i even tried the diskettes, but after the 6th one, i have the cd in, it still doesn't do anything, it keeps asking for something else, also by default, is the xp cd rom bootable by itself?

The XP CD is a bootable CD, you might just have a defective copy. Can you exchange it for one that works?
