upgrade Dell laptop to XP PRO 1

Dell Laptop Latitude CPiA

New 120Gb HD, installed XP PRO on it but the screen has a 2 inch black border around it and I can't figure out how to fill the screen.

ive had an cpia a while ago, i guess you wont have fun with it since its soooooooo slow.

Is that apparent when it is first booting up from the pre-Windows Desktop stage or only after Windows loads?

Under display Properties I had to change Settings , screen resolution to 1024 by 768.

The speed of the CPU has no effect on the way I use it. I connect to phone systems and the speed of the phone system is 9600.
