Current system is an MICS v5.0 with a single T1 (not PRI). I'm going to switch providers and install a PRI in a few weeks. I'm trying to head off as many unforeseen problems (as possible) that might crop up during the switch over. I've read through several posts here on tek-tips and elsewhere and here is my plan.

1) Purchase PRI keycode

2) Upgrade from v5 to v 6.1 (preferably NT7B66DR)
This is the main thing I'm concerned about. Is this just a matter of powering off, inserting v6.1 card and powering on to perform the upgrade? Any chance this will change the SysID?

3) Configure DTI as PRI

4) Be happy

From what I gather it's best to have Rev2 of the NVRAM cartridge. I'm not sure what's in it now and I'm way off site. Is there any way to check that remotely (FastRAD is in place)

Voice mail is StarTalk Flash 2 channel v2.1.00. Should I be concerned about any compatibility issues with v6.1 and this StarTalk?

If anyone has any pointers or tips on things to look out for I'd appreciate hearing them.

Thanks

Upgrading software is just a matter of inserting the new 6.1. The system ID shouldn't change, but there's always a chance when electronics are concerned. I'd wait to get the PRI Enabler until after the software has been upgraded. It is recommended to have a release 02 NVRAM, and I know of no way to check this remotely. Maybe ask the customer on site to look at the sticker on the NVRAM as it will read either release 01 or release 02. The Startalk Flash is fine. V2.1 will work with any release.

The NVRAM cartridge needs to be pulled out to see the sticker. Can that be pulled and reinserted with the system on or does it need to be shut down?

Got it. Turns out it's a Rev 2.

One more question...
I've read that the latest version of 6.1 (NT7B66DR) is best to use however I may only be able to get NT7B66CC. Should I foresee any problems with this release or should I make it a priority to get NT7B66DR?

Couple more things...

If going to 7.1 (or 6.1 for that matter) are there any compatibility issues to be aware of with an Analog Station Module?

If switching from standard release software to XC software are there any programming issues to be concerned with, assuming there are no hardware changes?

No issues with the analog station module. No major issues with going to XC. The numbering on the target lines is a bit different, but I don't think that applies in your situation. You'll need to upgrade to R6.1 first if you intend to upgrade to R7.1 as you can't go directly from R5.0 to R7.1.
