Update Web Form Field Using Dropdownlist

I have a form that is bound to my dataset from my sql server with a relationship across two tables customer and state.
I have a dropdown that has a list of states I would like to update the state field in my form from the value of the dropdownlist and ideas for this access was great for this stuff this is all new

Hey Ralph,

Do you mean you want to filter your dataset based on what is selected from the dropdown list?

If so then you bind the dataset "where state=DropdownList.SelectedItem.value"

my customers table has the stateID my dropdownlist has the state Text and StateId when someone creats a new customer I want the stateid update from the selection of the dropdownlist I want to do this on a form that is bound to my dataset.

I know how to add the dropdown to the forms itemcollection but how do i get the stateId to read the value from the dropdownbox... when I mean form I don't mean a webform rather the form Control from the tool box
