Hi,

I would like to update our TSM 5.3.0 Server to 5.3.4 on Windows Server 2003.

We use the TSM MMC and the ISC.

I have downloaded the latest version from
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/storage/tivoli-storage-management/maintenance/server/v5r3/WIN/LATEST/

and have read the installation guide:

There are not very much hints.
Is there anything I have to consider or can I just install the package?

Furthermore there is a package "TSMCON5340_WIN.exe" and "TSMSRV5340_WIN.exe", which one do I have to install first?

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Before performing the upgrade, prepare the system as you would for a disaster.

1. Migrate all the data off the disk pool to the tape pool.
2. Backup the database.
3. Backup the volhist, devconfig and the dsmserv.opt

This TSMSRV5340_WIN.exe contains the server upgrade code.

This TSMCON5340_WIN.exe contains the operational reporter which can not be install on the same system as the TSM Server.

Good luck,
Sias

Hi LED,

thank you for the asnwer.
Shall I stop the TSM server before upgarding?

Another question regarding the Operational Reporting:
At the moment we have installed it on our TSM server (everything 5.3.0).

Will there be problems with such a config?

Egr,

Yes, the TSM Server does need to be halted before peforming the upgrade.

In the readme file for TSM Server 5.3.4.0, do suggest to review the installation steps just to make sure we know what all the steps are.

With the operational reporter running on the same system as the TSM Server, I would not expect any problems with the operational reporter or with the upgrade.

Do prepare the system for worse case scenario.

Good Luck,
Sias
