Update to this thread950-1262028.
I did sort this a while ago, but thought I would post the answer here.
I needed to release the IP address from the client machine & then renew it.
As this was a Windows ME machine I used IPCONFIG /RELEASE_ALL
Then IPCONFIG /RENEW_ALL
Hope this helps anyone with a similar problem. It appears that Window 98/ME machines are not as reliable as Win2k upwards machines, when a new DHCP source becomes available & need to be told to release the old IP. They where never much good at networking anyway.
