I have this program that runs everytime i restart the computer ,the program is called Openme.exe
The problem is that it hangs everytime so i want to get rid of it.
I have tried to shutdown as many programs as i dare to in autostart but to no avail.
I do not know what it is for and i want to know how to solve this problem

Openme.exe is a porn dialer.

1. Go into add/remove in the control panel and look for a program that's named WebDialer and remove it. I believe WebDialer is the name that'll show in add/remove. (It may or may not be in add/remove)

2. Press ctrl + alt + del and 'end task' on openme.exe. Also see if there's a file shown there that looks something like 5-2-46-112.exe. The name of it may be slightly different but it'll be similiar if it's there. Then click start--find--files and search for openme.exe and the other file I mentioned and delete them.

3. Then click start--run--type system.ini and click ok. Look for this line near the top:

shell=Explorer.exe openme.exe

Delete ONLY the openme.exe part so that it just says shell=Explorer.exe with nothing typed to the right of it. Be careful deleting so that you don't start deleting the system.drv line underneath. Then close system.ini and click yes when prompted to save changes.

Then restart the computer and see if it's gone. Let us know. After restarting go into the Temp folder at c:\windows\temp and delete everything in it. The porn dialer may have placed some files in there.

Kento, very good and detailed answer.

I will only add this little tid-bit.

Before starting all of the uninstall, it might be wise to stop the "openme.exe" from loading at all, and you can do this by going into the MSINFO32, and the Startup menu.

Go to:
> START
> PROGRAMS
> ACCESSORIES
> SYSTEM TOOLS
> SYSTEM INFORMATION

There you will find:
A tool bar:
> Choose TOOLS
& System Configuration Utility

> Go to Startup

After searching down the list of programs that load up on startup, you should be able to find a line that does have "OPENME.EXE" in it....... or, as Kento suggested about this, a mystery line that has something like the
5-2-46-112.exe.
* UNCHECK that line. Reboot.

Then run that process as suggested above.

* After it is all done, I would also suggest running REGCLEAN, to possibly help clean up some of the mess in your REGISTRY.

You can find REGCLEAN all over the Internet.
RegClean 4.1a is the last version. Make sure you get that.
Here is one spot to find it:

OR you can delete it out of the start up registry key.

Navigate through the following folders:

START UP
RUN
REGEDIT
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE
SOFTWARE
MICROSOFT
WINDOWS
CURRENT VERSION
RUN

If its in the the Run folder... delete it. It wont start up again. This won't delete the software package from your computer (especially since you don't know what it is), BUT it will stop it from Starting Up automatically

OR you can type in MSCONFIG into the run box and see what popsup in the startup, auto exec and win boot sections .. also a handy placy for playing with other bits too. ***************************************
Party on, dudes!
