Hi. Single-domain Win2k3 forest, running for a little less than a year, with 50+ WinXP SP2 clients. Folder Redirection of AppData, MyDocs, and Desktop folders, along with Roaming Profiles operates wonderfully. Network purring quite nicely, thank you.

By design, shell folders that are redirected are automatically made available offline on systems with Offline Files enabled. Any other folders or files that should be available offline must be set manually.

However, every now and then I come across a client with odd shares set for offline availability. I'm certain the users aren't involved, and I've now seen it enough times to wonder what circumstances would cause the system to automatically set a server folder or file to be made available offline.

Are there circumstances when, perhaps, browsing to a network share, or typing in a UNC, would cause a file or share to be automatically made available offline???

I came across a client today that was set with live xml files from the server in their offline cache, along with a few files that were actually on the local computer, but the UNC specified \\computername\c$\... for the path of the share.

Definitely feel like I'm missing an integral piece of knowledge to understanding how Offline Files is supposed to work.

Little help???

Thanks!
