I have a Toshiba Satellite 4060XCDT that has unusual beep codes at startup. Too unusual to note (number of short beeps then long beeps for ever and ever)

When I hit any of the keys, the beeps stop and the system boots. In fact, it will boot even without hitting a key. The system seems to run fine. Checked for viruses with AVG and Trends on line scan and it comes up clean.

I do get a hang on a desktop icon every once and a while. It will be selected and if I double click another icon it will open the the one in the bottom left corner instead of the one that I am trying to open. But doesn't seem to be a virus.

Thanks

Sounds like a stuck key or bad keyboard to me , I had replaced a keyboard on a toshiba with the same porblem.
Strange that you don't get any error codes when it boots up .check in the bios to see if you can set it to report errors spificaly keyboard.
