I'm trying to get an Exabyte Mammoth-2 tape drive to work on Openserver 5.

I tried the generic SCSI driver, as well as the "EXABYTE 8mm tape drive (8200 or 8500)", both to no avail. When I try to run a backup, no data is written, and the session hangs.

Strangely enough, I can do a "tape status", and everything seems allright. It just poops out when I try to write data.

We're using cpio to perform backups, which is why I'm not relying on Backup Software support.

Are there any other tips/tricks/drivers I should be aware of?

Never mind. I figured it out. It's always the obvious answer.

I went down to baseline, and continued troubleshooting every possible issue.

Bad SCSI cable. That's what I get for using the cables that got shipped with some other drive. Now I'm off to DIA cables to get a *real* SCSI cable.

Just an FYI for those who care, the "EXABYTE 8mm tape drive (8200 or 8500)" driver works just fine for Exabyte's Mammoth-2 Drives.

-P
