I have read another thread on this as noted above.

o I'm setting up a 7.5 upgrade to an 11C in the lab.
o 3 MGC's have been initially configured and are trying to register with the CS as expected.
o The CS is currently NOT operational as we are still working on it.

Question is...
Should the MGC's respond to ^OAM ^LDB or ^PDT cli commands if the MGC is NOT registered or talking to the CS.

Thx

I don't think it will assuming it is running off the gold image with no other operational software on the card. To be honest, I've never tried talking to a MGC when there isn't a working call server present, short of running mgsetup to put the IP info on the card.

That has me thinking...

Maybe right "out of the box", with no loadware, the card is to stupid for ^oam etc.

Maybe once it gets it's initial loadwarwe you can login to it.
Then subsequently, whether it's registered or not, you can login to it.

I post back with the answer.

I'll know the answer once I can get Avaya to fix the problem that the physical dongleID and keycode dongle ID they sent me do not match. You don't find this out until you hit "DEPLOY" during the System Deplay process, even though when you added the CS1000 server to the configuration earlier in the process it asked you for the keycode file and was happy with it.
Then when you "Deploy" it craps out and wants you to tell it where the keycode file is again at which time it error out :(

My question would be what exactly would you need to login to an unregistered card for? Intial boot off the gold image asks you for the ELAN and CS address, then once it registers the mgcdb.xml is transfered that gives the MGC its host name, TLANs etc. At that point you can log in with the CS passwords. Prior to this you can stop the boot with a control B (Control I if it has previously registered) but no login credentials are required, this allows some commands.

The card does have loadware straight out the box and upgrades if the CS has higher, but file required to make it boot fully are not present.

Until you have a working CS and you have done the MGC config in elephant manager (Creating the XML file) you are wasting your time.

Bignose21...
Your reply is exactly what I wanted to know.
You're right about why would I want to login before the CS is up.
At least now I know what to expect out of a MGC card in it's various states.
