Occasionally we receive an "Unrecognized database" error message on start up of Access. This usually follows some sort of lost network connection in the form of a "Disk or Network Error". I am curious to find out whether anyone has any ideas on ways to reduce the occurences of this. It is not so prevalent now, but I would like to minimize the chances of it happening as much as possible. Thanks for any help in advance.

xtreme1
rbio@excite.com

Create a .MDE from your database and have your users use the .MDE not the .MDB.
But you need to use the database splitter to create a backend too.
Do this in the .MDB before you make a .MDE
Make sure everyone is out of the database.
In Access 2000
click "tools" menu then "Database utilities"
then "Database Splitter"

In Access '97
click "tools" menu then "Add-Ins" then "Database Splitter"

to make a .MDE in either 2000 or '97
"Tools" menu then "Database Utilities" then Make MDE

So you will have 3 databases in all...

But all of your errors will go away
I do all my Databases this way and all is lovely.
DougP
dposton@universal1.com

Ask me how Bar-codes can help you be more productive.
