unknown printer

I have installed xp pro 64 on a new workstation.

The HP laserjet 4 driver installed ok and print is ok.

However, at start up it says 'found new hardware - unknown printer' and in 'systems, devices, device manager, other' it shows 'unknown printer'.

Neither disbaling it or removing it prevents it finding it again on startup.

Any ideas? It's not serious but annoying.

did you use the driver that comes with XP 64, or did you try to download a driver off the web or something?

Try running the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.
