I know this isn't a netbackup issue, but I got a new Overland Powerloader Library in and I loaded it on a test 2003 windows server box with no problems, I loaded it on my production 2000 server sp3, and the adaptec card detects the 2 lto drives and the overland tld, and device manager detects both drives but not the overland medium changer, I went thru Overland support and they tell me to reload Windows 2000, but that's a production box and I have all my catalogs and policies already there. We're running NB 4.5 datacenter and I'm upgrading to 5.0 as soon as my medium changer starts working. Does anyone know how to get the "unknown medium changer" to show up in device manager?

thanks for any help

It will always show up as unknown medium changer unless you use a Windows Driver. Since you are using NetBackup, I am pretty sure you are using the Veritas Driver.

I got it! it turns out the Ultra160 Adaptec 39160 2 port card needs some adjustment for the Overland Powerloader, you have to set the speed down from 160 to 40 on the SCSI id the Overland is on and then turn off wide negotiation, after doing this it found the medium driver and it works! does anyone know why it does this and will it effect performance? any suggestions to get by this would be appreciated!

thanks again!
