I am about to start designing an upgrade/deployment of Business Objects 6.1.

Before I started this project my management made the decision to take the client's windows deployment and convert it all over to UNIX.

Since I started the project I have been trying to research the dfferences between UNIX and Windows deployments. I was on the Business Objects website and I did not find very much information.

The only thing I found was that VBA Macros will not work and that we should keep BCA on Windows to run the VBA macros.

Is this a good idea? Does anybody know anymore differences or issues I need to incorporate into my design? Does anybody know of a place I can find out more information about this?

thanks

In theory the platforms are the same. I think it's a little eaier to deploy on Windows, but it doesn't really matter now that the product is a JSP application.

You've discovered the main difference. I'm not sure, but I think UNIX may not be able to access OLAP sources. Other than that, it's the same product now.

The main reason to do UNIX is scalability. You simply can cram alot more users onto a UNIX server than you can on Windows.

Best of luck.
