uninstalling windows 2000

Does anyone know how to uninstall win 2000 i.e formatting the harddisc drive and installing win 98 again?

If you don't care about the data, just boot to the W2k disk and do a repair installation. When you get done with the part where you delete and/or reformat the partition, just exit the setup program or turn the computer off.

All will be gone, the OS, all your DATA, so be certain of this... Tao is the mobius. The ribbon of heaven and earth, you cannot lose your way.

Or if you have a Win98 bootdisk you can boot up to a DOS prompt, run FDISK, delete the partition and the install Win98...again..this will kill all data on your hard drive so be sure you want to do this!

Sorry for the kind of stupid questions but I'm new to DOS and Windows. Anyway, I am trying the option with the win98 bootdisk, but what do I type at the DOS prompt after FDISK to delete the win2000(NTFS) partition ? When the deletion of the partition is completed, don't I have to format the disc before installing win98?

PS. Can I install win2000 again after this without installing win95/98/ME first?

If you type in fdisk it will bring you to a screen where it asks if you want to use LBA (large block addressing) with a default answer of y (yes) hit enter.This will bring up a menu of either 4 or 5 choices (depends on if there are more than one drive detected. select option 3 delete partitions. the next screen offers more choices select number 4 delete non dos partitions.
Then you can either re partition and format for a w98 install, or put the W2K cd in the drive and boot (providing the PC supports boot from CD-rom.)Then follow the prompts to install W2K.

thanks for the tip! now i have deleted the non dos partition, but how do I do to create a FAT32 partition since i want to reinstall win98?

Either using fdisk, if you need partitions or simply run the setup from Win98 CD and it will do it for you!!
