Uninstall JAVA using VB.NET

Is it possible to test for which version of JAVA is running on a machine using VB.Net. If it is the wrong version required for the program we are using, uninstall it and re-install an earlier version of JAVA.

We apparently have some software that will only run on a certain version of JAVA and have been asked if we can automate the installation process when the user logs on.

Yes. Look into the registry under either:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software
HKEY_CURRENT_MACHINE\Software

Where are you installing it from?

How do you uninstall/install it manually?

Not sure yet, all a bit theoretical with the 'Can it be done' questions being asked.

Presume it's Add/Remove programs.
