My company had a POP3 server and I just installed an Exchange Server 2003. I configured the first person to use Exchange and bagn transferring his mail from a local pst to his mailbox on the exchange server. I am using cached mode so Outlook is creating a local ost file.

During the transfer process, I received an error message that I cannot transfer any more mail because the ost file has reached it's 2gb limit.

My question is this:

Is there a way to convert an ANSI OST file to a UNICODE OST file?

Well, I figured out the answer to my own question on how to convert an ANSI OST file to a Unicode OST file. I thought I would post the answer here for anyone else:

1. Shut down Outlook.
2. Control Panel>Mail
3. Remove the user from Exchange
4. Delete the local OST file
5. Exchange Server: Configure a Policy so Exchange ONLY uses Unicode (6. Command Prompt on local computer: grpudate /force
7. Control Panel>Mail
8. Add the user back to Exchange
9. Change the default location of their mail to be exchange instead of a local PST.
9. Delete the local OST file created from the add.
10. Open Outlook

Outlook will now re-build a local OST file that is Unicode.
