Let me tell you, I've never had so much problem with upgraded from ME to XP - it kinda removes the anxiety of wanting to upgrade.
First, I did an "Upgrade (Recommended)" and was linked to the internet, however, after three tries of getting the updated setup files, I gave it up and just continued the install. After everything was said and done, it was restarted and I get this:
"Unexpected Error (768) occurred at line 5118 in d:\xpclient\base\boot\setup\setup.c. Press any key to continue."
I pressed a key and I get that dreaded blue screen (it's neat that they changed the font so that it's more pleasing, I think) that says,
"PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED"
and then it proceeds to tell me to disable or remove newly installed hardware or software (I haven't installed anything new for at least 3 months) OR disable memory cashing or shadowing (which I had done once before and it basically made my computer run like a slug.
I DID do the Compatibility and removed a few of the software items that were going to be a challenge but the only ones I'm reluctant to remove is my Lexmark Printer and my Palm installation.
Any ideas?
Oh, and by the way, before anyone gives another smart comment in regards to my "Programmer" status, I'm a programmer in Visual Basic which has nothing to do with Operating Systems.
Thanks in advance,
